Here are some memories of Buran Rambler sent to me:

"Buran actually had a special edition AMX called the Buran
Hustler with SCRambler headrests and painted red, white, and
blue quarter circles among other changes."

"Then came the 60's and at the end of the 60's we got our
MUSCLE CARS. The Javelins and AMX's. Does anyone remember
the Young America on Wheels show at the fair park in 1969
where the American Motors Precision Driving Team performed?
Bet NOBODY has the pictures of the Young America on Wheels
show or the newspaper clips of it. The Sentinel did a whole
special section for a Saturday Edition.  Remember Buran AMC at
62nd and National?"
"Buran AMC dealer and the jingle (Buran, Buran, Buran has the
answer to the call of the open road)."
"I grew up around AMC's. My father was the GM of Buran
Rambler/AMC in West Allis, WI...the largest AMC dealer in
Wisconsin, and one of the biggest in the Nation (AMCs were
pretty popular here being built in Kenosha, and having a large
plant in MKE too). Mom had a hunter green Go-Pak 69 AMX with
"Trendsetter" side pipes and Minilite wheels...that is my first
car memory."
"My aforementioned AMX was Julius Buran's car that he got new...
I got it in 1987 with about 24,000 miles on it...never been in
snow."
"Dad was founder of the first AMC club in the US--AMCC. That
was my first exposure to 'Slalom'--what we call autocrossing...
in mom's AMX. They did duals with the local Mustang club and
Trans-Am club etc. When AMC signed on with Penske in 1970,
they were looking for a place to work on the cars when visiting
RA. Buran AMC became the place--and dad was the one who
made it happen. So, as a 2 and 3 year old, I got to sit in Mark
Donohue's Javelins as they were being worked on in the
dealership's shop. Team Penske also visited when in MKE for the
Indy Car races--twice a year back then....and for the F5000
races, and CanAm races. I sat in the 1972 Indy winning car...
I was 4. Pretty neat. Dad still talks to Roger Penske on occasion,
and my solo numer--6--is a direct result of the exposure I had
to the Penske/Donohue Javelins.
